The nail on the
right is not only staining the lumber but it is rusting and will eventually effect the
stability of the structure.
Any surface which is to be painted will soon
show the rusting nail heads and a re-paint will become necessary much sooner.
The stainless nail on the left will last as
long as the lumber and your expensive paint job will last as long as the paint.
Using stainless fasteners adds value to your project. The difference in cost
is minimal compared to the total cost of the structure.
Stainless nails are stronger than plain
steel fasteners too, so you have a win - win situation, for very little extra cost. |
